Field Training
Nature of participation: Field training in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning within the MIRA LAB laboratories in the Faculty of Electrical and Communication Engineering at the Izmir Institute of Technology. The training included two face-to-face meetings with my supervisor, Dr. Abdulrahman Gumus from the Electrical Engineering Department. During the meeting, the participants discussed the progress made in the training plan during the week and arranged tasks and steps related to the following week. The training combined theoretical and practical components. The theoretical component covered the basics and principles of machine learning, followed by a more advanced level of practical application and real-life problem-solving. The final component included designing and implementing a project that encompassed everything learned and discussed during the training period.
Scientific and practical experience: The training period had a significant impact on developing my academic and practical skills in more than one way. First, regarding my field of study, my capabilities in data processing, using software to write code, and using pre-trained models and modifying them to solve various problems have developed. My programming problem-solving skills have also improved as a result of the intensive training, problem-solving, and problem-solving. Second, and most importantly, I have significantly improved my skills in self-learning, scientific research, and reading and writing research papers, as the theoretical part of the training included reading numerous research papers on various topics.
Other activities: The training period was not limited to the academic aspect only, but extended to have a significant positive impact in many aspects. First, in terms of tourism, I had ample time to visit various tourist and historical sites and cities in Turkey, both inside and outside of my training city, Izmir. Furthermore, this trip greatly contributed to forming broad-based social relationships with people from different and diverse cultures, and getting to know them and their cultures has greatly broadened my horizons and thinking. Furthermore, I have met people who serve as great role models for success in my field of study and future career, as my relationship with supervisors and trainers did not end with the end of the training. The most important aspect of this journey is getting to know yourself more, as I found myself in a different place and a different culture. So, my journey of adapting, forming relationships, coexisting, and getting to know the place and culture began. It was a more than wonderful journey, and none of its details can be forgotten.
