Field Training

Nature of participation:

The training phase included two aspects: practical and theoretical. From a theoretical perspective, several lectures were given on the topic of concrete and the tests performed on it. These lectures were followed by practical applications of experiments in the university laboratories. The participants then visited Al-Shumookh Modern Development Company, which specializes in the production of concrete, sidewalk tiles, and other materials. The practical aspect also included a visit to the new university campus with Chelkesh, the company implementing the project, to learn about the aspects that have been completed and are currently being implemented in the field of civil engineering. They also visited Ha-Be, a company that specializes in the production of admixtures added to concrete during its production.

Scientific and practical experience:

This training at the University of Nizwa undoubtedly enriched my academic and practical experience, especially during the training phase with Chelkesh Company on the new campus. It served as a practical application of the theoretical aspects previously learned and studied in university courses. It added insights to the project, particularly in buildings that are not yet constructed in our country. In addition, visits to Ha-Be and Al-Shumookh companies enabled us to observe the production and manufacture of concrete from raw materials and learn about the properties of this material and the modern technologies used.

Other activities:

Visiting the historical and tourist sites in the Sultanate of Oman was a must. The trip included visits to several areas in Nizwa Governorate and Muscat, such as Misfat al-Abriyeen and Bahla Fort, as well as visits to the Nizwa Souq and Nizwa Fort, the Oman Across Time Museum, and many other beautiful locations. The exchange program also helps students get to know other countries and exchange information, interests, and other cultures.
