Renewable Energy Engineering
Kurdistan/Iraq
Erbil Technical University
Field Training
Nature of participation: The nature of the participation was to complete practical training. We were divided into groups, with the Energy and Mechanical Engineering Departments in the same group. We completed the training in Erbil Technical University laboratories and conducted field visits.
Scientific and practical experience: I gained extensive experience as we learned about recent studies in renewable energy engineering. The lectures included the Fluid Lab, the Electrical Lab, and the Renewable Energy Lab, including experiments we conducted in the Renewable Energy Lab, including wind energy, P.V energy, solar energy, and thermal energy. In addition, a luxmeter was explained, which measures the intensity of light through the distance of illumination.
Other activities: The trip was not limited to the educational aspect, but rather included cultural and recreational aspects. We made many visits with students from Libya, Oman, and Egypt, accompanied by the Student Council Union. We went on a safari in Shaqlawa, spent a day in Dohuk, saw the beautiful nature, and visited the Martyrs Cemetery and the Barzani Museum. We were hosted for dinner by the Palestinian Ambassador, the Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region for Arab Countries Affairs, and the Secretariat of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region. Through all these participations, we gained irreplaceable experience and met people. The trip was full of beautiful memories. I would like to extend my special thanks to Dr. Mutamad Al-Khatib for giving me this opportunity, and to everyone who made this trip special.
