Civil Engineering and Sustainable Structures
Iraq
University of Anbar
Field Training
Nature of participation:
Field training in civil engineering and sustainable construction in buildings under construction at the University of Anbar in Ramadi, Anbar Governorate. The training lasted 21 days under the supervision of engineers from various engineering disciplines, including structural, architectural, electrical, and mechanical engineering. The training also included cultural exchange and scientific expertise.
Scientific and practical experience:
During our training tour, we visited the College of Engineering and learned about its laboratories, including the Roads and Environment Laboratory, the Construction Laboratory, the Surveying Laboratory, and the Soil Laboratory. We received training courses on the use of Autodesk Revit, which facilitates our engineering work. The training included field visits, including to the University of Anbar Sports Stadium and the College of Pharmacy building. During the visits, we learned about the pros and cons of building construction and engineering errors. Continuing our field trip, we went to the Renewable Energy Department and learned about the 3D printer, which brings buildings to life. We also learned about the use of artificial intelligence programs and their importance to engineers.
Other activities:
The visit was not limited to academic exchange alone; it also included recreational visits, including the Happy Land Amusement Park. Cultural visits were also included. We visited the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad, which represents the ancient and historical civilization of the sisterly Republic of Iraq. We also visited the Palestinian Embassy and met with the Palestinian Ambassador, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi. We also visited religious sites, cities, and tourist attractions, including Mutanabbi Street, the Tigris River, and Baghdad's popular markets. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of this training mission, represented by the members of the administrative, teaching and training bodies at Anbar University, headed by its President, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Al-Nida. I would also like to thank the Academic Vice President at Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, Dr. Mu'tamad Al-Khatib, for his efforts in providing university students with the opportunity to reap a lot in their university life, from communicating with the outside world, getting to know other cultures and forming broad relationships.
