Field Training

Nature of participation:

Two-month practical and theoretical training, both in the office and outside, covering the latest technologies used in communications and computing. The training also included working alongside employees through office meetings to provide future solutions and technologies that can be adopted in the future to create a more convenient and less stressful work environment. I was able to train in eight major departments at Omantel. The training program also included a rich cultural exchange involving different cultures from around the world, and we were able to learn many details about Omani culture and its historical and tourist attractions.

Scientific and practical experience:

The training program was rich in academic and practical experience. Academically, I learned about modern communications and computer technologies that are still not currently used in Palestine, or even in their infancy. The practical experience included the use of advanced programs to design FTTH networks, providing the most appropriate solutions that are compatible with the harsh and difficult environment and terrain of Oman in the OSP and Implementation departments. The program also included programs to develop Omantel's central systems and develop software interfaces that facilitate the work of the company's employees in the IT department. Special programs to facilitate customer search and marketing of the company's products in the GIS department were also introduced. The program also included learning about microwave, satellite, and mobile technologies, especially 5G technologies, which are considered a revolution in modern technology and communications, in the Transmission and Mobile departments. Finally, we learned about the central and basic network that the company relies on to connect Oman to the world via the Internet in the Core Network department. We also conducted a field visit to a central communications site to learn about the facility's workflow, and visited a site to design a new fiber optic network. The practical experience included extensive use of the latest computer technologies, participation in proposing solutions through frequent meetings between employees, communication skills, critical thinking, presentation skills, and effective time management.

Other activities:

The training program was full of cultural programs that reflected the cultural, historical, touristic, and natural beauty of the Sultanate of Oman. It also provided the opportunity to meet trainees from around the world and learn about their rich cultures. We also formed many friendships with a variety of people, including trainees, volunteers, Omani residents, employees, diplomats, and many others. We were also able to attend numerous recreational and tourist activities across the Sultanate of Oman.
