Field Training

Nature of participation:

One-month field training at the College of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering at Anbar University, Iraq.

Scientific and practical experience:

The training included introductory tours of the departments and laboratories of the College of Engineering at the University of Anbar, where we learned about the most important laboratories, such as the Construction Laboratory, the Concrete Laboratory, the Roads Laboratory, and the Soil and Environment Laboratory. We were also briefed on the equipment used and the practical operation of each device. The training also included practical lectures on BIM technology and the differences between AutoCAD and Revit, as well as practical training on SketchUp for preparing 3D models. This experience enhanced our understanding of modern design techniques and engineering software, and linked theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field of civil engineering.

Other activities:

This experience was a great opportunity to discover Iraqi history and civilization. I visited the capital, Baghdad, and the city of Fallujah, in addition to seeing a number of historical and cultural landmarks and tourist sites. We also had the opportunity to meet students from various Arab universities, which added a unique social dimension to the experience.
