Field Training

Nature of participation:

My participation in the student program was enriching in all aspects. We benefited from the academic and practical experience through the comprehensive training we completed during this period, in addition to the cultural, recreational, and exploratory visits, accompanied by brothers and sisters from several countries, and concluding with participating in the honoring conference and delivering the closing ceremony speech in the presence of the university presidency and the distinguished professors supervising the exchange.

Scientific and practical experience:

My training at the university began with an introduction to the college's central laboratories, including their modern, advanced, and remarkably well-qualified equipment. I also attended some theoretical courses under the supervision of department heads, such as the Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry course, and conducted some practical experiments in the lab to complement and reinforce our theoretical studies. I also attended several graduation research discussions for graduate students in the field of specialization, benefiting from the comments of the discussing members to improve theses and some research methodological steps. I also attended a specialized training course titled "Molecular Diagnosis Using Real Time qPCR Technology," delivered by the President of Anbar University, Professor and Biology Researcher Dr. Mushtaq, and a number of distinguished researchers.

Then, training began at Al-Razi Hospital in Ramadi, where we were initially trained in the hematology lab, the hormone lab, and the comprehensive examination lab. We learned several skills, such as drawing blood and performing analysis using the device, matching blood between patients and donors in preparation for surgical procedures, and viewing results under a microscope. We also worked on other advanced chemical and biological devices that produce accurate results.

Finally, our training was at the first center for infertility treatment and IVF in Anbar Governorate, under the supervision of Dr. Ayman, a student of Dr. Omar Al-Rawi, a former researcher at Oxford University and the first embryologist in Iraq, and a graduate of medical and laboratory sciences, where we learned about the method of embryo implantation, the reasons for it, the results, the methodology, the instructions for the embryo transfer, and other details. We also attended the process of egg retrieval and preparing them for injection by selecting the suitable sample through a microscope. It was a rich and unique experience in the company of specialists who did not hold back what they had to offer us.

Other activities:

We visited several tourist sites in Ramadi city, such as the Euphrates River, the popular market, the farm, shopping malls, and others, in addition to visiting the city of Fallujah and the capital, Baghdad, where we visited the Palestinian Embassy, the Freedom Monument, and the Tigris River. Perhaps the most prominent aspect of this experience was the acquired culture, in addition to the valuable scientific experience. Through it, we got to know the Iraqi people, the history of Iraq, and the Iraqi culture, in addition to our knowledge and relationships with other nationalities and countries, such as Yemen and Sudan, just as we got to know our sisters from the rest of the Palestinian universities with different specializations and experiences. We felt the meaning of one body that is not limited by geography or separated by borders. Enlightened minds and kind hearts brought us together, which gave the experience a unique and unparalleled splendor. Praise be to God first and last.
