Nature of participation:
I participated in a unique academic and cultural exchange program between Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and Al-Balqa' Applied University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. My participation was among a group of students from the English Department, with the goal of developing our academic and communication skills and introducing us to a new educational environment that encourages creativity and openness.
During my participation, I attended a series of lectures and workshops that focused on modern topics in the fields of language, translation, and artificial intelligence. I also participated in field visits to Jordanian media and cultural institutions, which provided me with a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand insight into modern teaching and training methods. The experience was rich in every detail, and from day one, I felt like I was part of a new academic community that celebrates knowledge and collaboration.
Scientific and practical experience:
Through this participation, I gained valuable academic and practical experience in various fields related to my specialization.
I attended lectures and workshops on topics such as the use of technology in English language learning, the application of artificial intelligence tools in academic writing, and literary and audiovisual translation. These sessions helped me develop my research and analytical skills and gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms for integrating the human and technical aspects in the fields of translation and education.
Field experiences were also a highlight of the program; I visited the Jordan Media City, Roya TV, and the Jordan Radio and Television Museum. I also attended a conference on the role of montage in promoting hate speech. These activities enhanced my understanding of the nature of media work and the methods of employing language to convey positive messages.
At the end of the program, I received accredited certificates after participating in two workshops on the basics of photography and methods of teaching English, supervised by American professor Jennifer Green. This experience was a combination of practical learning and self-development.
Other activities:
Beyond the academic aspects, the participation was filled with cultural and social activities that left a profound impact on me.
I visited beautiful archaeological sites such as the ancient city of Jerash and Ajloun Castle, and toured the Roman amphitheater, where civilization met history. These visits gave me the opportunity to reflect on Jordan's beauty and rich history, and I felt proud to represent my university and my country in such ancient places.
Meetings with Jordanian students were also among the most rewarding moments; we exchanged experiences and stories and learned about each other's cultures, and the spirit of brotherhood was present at every turn.
The program concluded with a special ceremony during which I received my certificate of participation, amidst an atmosphere of pride, happiness, and accomplishment. It was an unforgettable moment for me, as it marked the end of a wonderful experience and the beginning of a new drive to continue on the path to success.
