Nature of participation:
I participated in the ICT4Edu workshop held at the University of Padua, Italy. The workshop focused on how to use technology effectively and beneficially in education, particularly with children in kindergarten (KG2), a crucial stage in shaping a child's personality and developing their skills.
The workshop was interactive and included open discussions between the lecturer and students.
Scientific and practical experience:
During the workshop, we learned the importance of using technology in education and how we can employ it effectively to suit children's needs.
We discussed the pros and cons of technology and how we can develop its use in remote or war-affected cities and with older teachers.
We also learned how social media can be a useful educational tool or a double-edged sword. We reviewed the internet as a vast, open resource filled with educational websites, videos, and apps.
We put this into practice using Canva to design interactive lessons for children, combining sound, images, colors, and music in a fun way that embeds information in children's minds. We also learned how music and various tools can support learning and encourage creativity in children.
It was a sweet, inspiring, and entertaining experience.
Other activities:
We visited historical sites and famous landmarks in the city, including famous churches, the Bou Palace, and the Old Education Museum, which displays old teaching methods and tools used in schools in the past. We also visited other cities near the area.
