Field Training
Nature of participation:
My participation consisted of implementing an applied research project titled "Hydraulic Performance and Pressure-Loss Assessment of a Curved Water Pipe: CFD Analysis." I performed numerical analysis using ANSYS Fluent to study the performance of water flow and pressure loss in a curved pipe. My involvement included preparing the geometric model, mesh generation, setting up simulation conditions, running the numerical analysis, and interpreting the results and linking them to previous studies. I also contributed to preparing a comprehensive research report and a presentation summarizing the results as part of a student exchange program organized by IAESTE in collaboration with JECRC University in India.
Scientific and practical experience:
During my internship, I gained extensive scientific and practical experience in the fields of hydraulics and fluid analysis using numerical simulation (CFD) techniques. I learned how to use ANSYS Fluent software to perform hydraulic analysis of water transportation systems, including preparing geometric models, meshing, selecting appropriate turbulence models, and interpreting pressure, velocity, and power loss results within curved pipes.
I also developed skills in analyzing hydraulic performance, evaluating pressure loss, and making comparisons between numerical and theoretical models.
On a practical level, the experience enhanced my abilities to solve engineering problems, manage time, prepare technical reports, and work within an international, multicultural research environment, enriching my academic and professional experience in the field of mechanical engineering.
Other activities:
The internship experience at JECRC was a wonderful and comprehensive one in every respect. In addition to the rich practical experience I gained in the field of mechanical engineering, I had the opportunity to visit several cities in India and learn about their diverse cultures.
The experience was a unique cultural and human one, as I met students from different international backgrounds and exchanged knowledge and experiences. It was an ideal environment that embodied cultural diversity and respect for different perspectives. I formed new friendships that will remain a fond memory in my academic career.
This internship broadened my academic and personal horizons and provided me with a unique global experience that combined learning, culture, and human interaction.
