Field Training
Nature of participation: Participated in a summer training program at Erbil Technical University, which included cognitive, scientific, cultural, and tourism aspects.
Scientific and practical experience: A visit to the College of Engineering and the College of Technology at the university during the training days, where we were briefed on several laboratories in both colleges, including: concrete, surveying, soil, and asphalt, through which we were introduced to the available equipment and the nature of its work. There was also a site visit to a residential building designed by the supervising engineer. We also visited the concrete factory with the Palestinian engineer Suhaib. Finally, there was a meeting with the ACI Students chapter where they were shown a cinema. In agreement with DCP Company, we discussed chemical additives for concrete, and we visited the additive factory, got acquainted with it, and reviewed the tests applied to the additives.
Other activities: Our trip was not limited to educational aspects, but also included cultural, social, and touristic activities. We made several official visits to the Palestinian Consul, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and others, during which we discussed the shared cause of the Palestinian and Kurdish peoples. We also visited the Erbil Citadel, one of the oldest archaeological sites in the world, and the Barzan region, where we visited the Barzani National Museum. We then went to the Solaf region, Amadiya, and finally Dohuk.
