Sustainable Energy Engineering
Sultanate of Oman
University of Nizwa
Field Training
Nature of participation: The training included both practical and theoretical aspects. I learned the basics of using MATLAB and made numerous visits to power, electricity, and gas plants, such as the Ibri 2 Power Plant, the largest power plant in the Sultanate of Oman, Mazoon Electricity Company, the Eco-Friendly House, and the Manah Power Plant. Discussions were held with specialized engineers.
Scientific and practical experience: The university laboratories were equipped with all the necessary equipment and tools for my specialization, such as the solar cell battery room, the solar cell manufacturing room, and the energy and electrical machines laboratory. Practical experiments were conducted in the lab and results were recorded. I used radiation measuring devices, a solar cell hotspot locator, and other useful devices.
Other activities: It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience, as I visited many recreational and cultural sites across the Sultanate, such as the Oman Across Time Museum, the Wilayat of Al Hamra, Misfat Al Abriyeen, and the capital, Muscat. I learned about the history of the Sultanate of Oman, and I was also happy to be in the company of students from various Arab universities, such as Kurdistan, Egypt, Chad, Yemen, and Jordan.
